Villa Concert 2/2: Wettergreen / Haagenrud

On selected Sundays in January and February we invite you to exclusive matiné concerts in Nina and Edvard Grieg's villa.

Enjoy the beautiful villa, which Edvard Grieg referred to as his “best opus so far”. The concerts are arranged in the Grieg-couples sitting room, and will be performed on Grieg’s own Steinway Grand Piano from 1892.

All four concerts will be presented by professional musicians from Bergen, some young talents and some with international careers. Be sure to book your tickets early, there is only 45 tickets per concert!

About the musicians: 

Caroline Wettergreen studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. Opera engagements have included La Fée in Massenet’s Cenrillon at Komische Oper Berlin, Adelaide in Lulu and Serpetta in La Finta Giardiniera at the Norwegian National Opera and Queen of the night in Die Zauberflote. Wettergren is especially sought-after for Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana and Solveig in Grieg’s Peer Gynt, which she has also performed in Berlin with the Berliner Symphoniker. 

Ole Christian Haagenrud recently finished the prestigious artist diploma program at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Haagenrud has received several prices and awards and in 2014 he was given the Robert Levin Prize in Norway. He has appeared in piano concertos by Grieg, Liszt, Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky with professional orchestras such as The Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and The Norwegian Radio Orchestra. Haagenrud is a vivid chamber musician, and he regularly contributes to festivals in Norway and abroad. Many of his concerts have been broadcast on both national and international television and radio. In 2016, Haagenrud gave his debut concert at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
