Villa Concert: Martha Belt
Every Sunday in October we invite you to lunchtime concerts in Nina and Edvard's villa at 13.00. Martha Berit Belt will perform in the concert on October 28.
The Villa was built in 1885, and the couple lived there the last 22 summers of Edvard Grieg’s life. Edvard referred to the Villa as his “best opus so far”. The ground floor of the house is open to the public and consists of a Memory Room filled with objects from key events in Grieg’s life, the original spacious dining room, a veranda and a sitting room where you can explore Grieg’s very own Steinway piano from 1892. The instrument is still playable and is often used for concerts, like in this year's October lunchtime concert series.
Pianist this Sunday: Martha Berit Belt
Martha Berit Belt holds a master’s degree in piano performance from The Grieg Academy in Bergen, with Signe Bakke as her teacher. In her masters project she studied the music of Olivier Messiaen. Belt performs regularly, both as a soloist and accompanist. In addition to be an active pianist in Bergen, she has in resent time given concert in Grieg-Begegnungsstätte in Leipzig and participated in Lied-duo competition in Groningen in the Netherlands. Belt often collaborates with singers and instrumentalists as accompanist and chamber musician.
