Villa Concert: Oda Voltersvik
Every Sunday in October we invite you to lunchtime concerts in Nina and Edvard's villa at 13.00. Oda Voltersvik will perform in the concert on October 14th.
The Villa was built in 1885, and the couple lived there the last 22 summers of Edvard Grieg’s life. Edvard referred to the Villa as his “best opus so far”. The ground floor of the house is open to the public and consists of a Memory Room filled with objects from key events in Grieg’s life, the original spacious dining room, a veranda and a sitting room where you can explore Grieg’s very own Steinway piano from 1892. The instrument is still playable and is often used for concerts, like in this year's October lunchtime concert series.
Pianist this Sunday: Oda Voltersvik
Oda Voltersvik has performed at several important international venues including “Palermo Classica” International Festival, the 1st International Folk Music Festival in Beijing, Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, St Martin in the Fields, St James`s Piccadilly, Regent Hall, Leipzig Town Hall, and concert societies throughout London and UK. Her concert engagements in Norway include annual recitals for a week as Artist in Residence at Edvard Grieg museum since 2014 and several scenes and music societies throughout Norway.
