1/11:Trondheimsolistene and Håkon Skogstad

Tuesday 1 November at 18.00 in Troldsalen:

Trondheimsolistene are returning to Troldhaugen, this time taking pianist and composer Håkon Skogstad with them. Together they will present the tango genre by exploring Piazzolla's music and Skogstad's own compositions

Visions of Tango, by Håkon Skogstad and Trondheimsolistene was created in 2021 in connection to Astor Piazzolla's 100th anniversary. You can hear Håkon Skogstad's arrangements of Piazzolla's music with the piano in focus, as well as Skogstad's original work "Concerto for Piano and String Orchestra" in four movements.

The record has received rave reviews and in 2022 won the Spellemann prize in the category of Classical Music.

The music lies between jazz, classical, contemporary and world music, and is also a continuation of Skogstad's multi-year project which aims to redefine the piano's role in the tango genre. This started with his solo album "Two Hands to Tango" recorded in New York, which has received over 30 rave reviews internationally.

The music is, in Skogstad's own words, "Riff-based classical music in Argentinian rhythms".
