17 April: Concert: The young Sæverud
Sunday, 17 April, 13:00: We will be celebrating Harald Sæverud’s 125th anniversary at Siljustøl Museum with a rare performance of his youthful piano sonata by Ole Christian Haagenrud.
As a twenty-four-old student in Berlin, Harald Sæverud wrote his stormy and uncharacteristically virtuoso piano sonata in G minor. It stands apart from the style the mature Sæverud came to embody in his music.
It is not often we have the chance to hear this sonata, and it is a great pleasure that Ole Christian Haagenrud will present it at Siljustøl this afternoon. In addition we will be treated to late masterpieces by Beethoven and Mozart, two of Sæverud’s idols.
About the artist
Ole Christian Haagenrud is one of most sought-after young pianists in Norway. He is in demand as both a chamber musician and accompanist, and he performs regularly at major festivals in Norway and abroad.
