20/1: Nocturne and symphony: Oda Voltersvik
January 20th at 18:00: In relation to our Nikolai Astrup exhibition "Visions of Norway", KODE invites our audiences to the concert series «Astrup’s Musical Landscape» in KODE 1 (Bergen city centre)
The last recital in the concert series is by Oda Voltersvik who invites the audience into an atmospheric program.
KODE's Composer Homes concists of the former homes of Edvard Grieg, Ole Bull and Harald Sæverud. All three of our composers were, much like Astrup, inspired by nature. This is reflected in their homes as well as in their music.
Nicolai Astrup himself used musical terminology (such as "symphony" and "nocturne") to describe colours and paintings. He stated that of all art forms; music is the closest to painting and that a gifted musician was a latent painter.
Oda Voltersvik launched her solo debut album "Firebird" in 2019, and recieved great reviews. Her concert engagements in Norway include annual recitals for a week as Artist in Residence at Edvard Grieg museum since 2014 and several scenes and music societies throughout Norway. In the autumn of 2021, Voltersvik formed the concert series Volt Classics which was held in the centre of Bergen in an intimate setting. For the years 2021 and 2022, she has been awarded the Norwegian Arts Council`s work grant for younger and newly established artists in Norway.
