26/12 Boxing Day Concert: Bjørsvik & Solvang
Sunday 26 December at 14:00: Welcome to a Boxing Day concert with Ian Bjørsvik and Kei Solvang in Troldsalen at Troldhaugen.
This Boxing Day, there is a concert in Troldsalen with Ian Bjørsvik and Kei Solvang. Bjørsvik and Solvang will perform an exciting programme which includes Backer-Grøndahl, Chopin, R. Schumann, Grieg and selected Christmas songs.

Ian Marcus Bjørsvik is a 19-year-old tenor from Askøy. He started singing when he was 12/13 years old in musicals in Askøy and eventually took private singing lessons at the Performig Arts School in Bergen by Olav Veierød. Bjørsvik begun in 2019 his high school music studies at Langhaugen VGS with Tore Johannessen as his teacher. Here he received classical impulses, which inspired him to further explore the classical repertoire of singing.
In 2019, he joined The Grieg Academy's Young Talents programme "GUT" where he took voice lessons with Hilde Haraldsen Sveen. Through both GUT and several other programmes, he has had the opportunity to have master classes with established professional musicians and teachers such as Susanna Eken, Mari Eriksmoen and Leif Ove Andsnes. He has recently been included in the newly established Soloist Choir UNG, the talent initiative of the Norwegian Soloist Choir, and came in addition to this to the final in his group at the Youth Music Championship 2020/21. Bjørsvik is currently studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen.
Kei Solvang was born in Japan in 2002, but came to Norway when she was five years old. From 2017, she was admitted to the Grieg Academy's Young Talents Programme (GUT), where she has had regular lessons by Signe Bakke. Furthermore, in 2018 Kei was included in the Talent Programme by Prof. Jiri Hlinka Piano Academy - an international academy with Leif Ove Andsnes, Håvard Gimse and Christian Ihle Hadland as suporvisers. From 2019, Kei was also included in the new piano initiative «National Talent Development Initiative on Piano».
In 2018, Solvang won her class in the Youth Music Championship, as well as the inspiration award and the audience award. In the same year, she had the honor of opening NRK's Grieg minute by minute. In 2019, she won a total of three international awards during the piano competitions in Sweden, Great Britain and Germany. In 2020, she qualified for the semifinals of NRK's music competition "Virtuos" and for the finals of the "Japan e-piano competition". In the summer of 2021, Kei received the "Sonderpreis" (Special Award) during the PIANALE in Germany for the age group 18-30 years. Solvang is studying the first year of her Bachelor degree at the Royal Danish Academy of Music with Prof. Jens Elvekjær as her main mentor.
