KODE's Composer Homes concists of the former homes of Edvard Grieg, Ole Bull and Harald Sæverud. All three of our composers were, much like Astrup, inspired by nature. This is reflected in their homes as well as in their music.

Nicolai Astrup himself used musical terminology (such as "symphony" and "nocturne") to describe colours and paintings. He stated that of all art forms; music is the closest to painting and that a gifted musician was a latent painter.

Nils Økland, violin and Hardanger fiddle
Sigbjørn Apeland, piano

Nils Økland plays the Hardanger fiddle, violin and viola d, amore. He plays folk music, classical music, improvisation and modern music. He has been a soloist with various orchestras in several European countries. Økland has been active in the Norwegian music scene since the early 1980s and has since toured and had projects in the USA, China, Japan and the Middle East. Together with Sigbjørn Apeland, he has for several years played concerts in Ole Bull's villa on Lysøen. During the Ole Bull anniversary in 2010, they recorded the album: "Lysøen - Hommage á Ole Bull" with a focus on Bull's relationship to folk music and improvisation.
